Rural Water Supply

Ahilyanagar Zilla Parishad Rural Water Supply Department implements rural tap water supply schemes, acquires new borewells, constructs simple wells, installs electric pumps on high capacity borewells, maintains and repairs regional schemes, implements various measures during periods of drinking water shortage, implements schemes under MLA funds and MP funds under local development programmes, implements SwajalDhara scheme, implements Shivakalin water storage scheme, supplies water to schools in rural areas, implements rural water supply programmes through Bharat NirmanYojana. Also, complete support, guidance and monitoring are provided to the Village Water Supply and Sanitation Committees for public participation schemes.

Structure of Rural Water Supply Department
The Rural Water Supply Department is functioning at the district level under the supervision of the Executive Engineer. Monitoring and coordination work is carried out through the Accounts Branch, Project Branch and Establishment Branch of the Rural Water Supply Department. Under the supervision of the Executive Engineer, 1 Rural Water Supply Department, 1 Mechanical Sub-Department and 7 Rural Water Supply Sub-Departments are in existence to implement the rural water supply program in the district. Since the sub-departments of the Rural Water Supply Department are insufficient, the rural water supply program is implemented through the Minor Irrigation Sub-Divison in the district.
