Animal Husbandry

    The Animal Husbandry Department was earlier functioning under the District Local Board, Ahilyanagar. At that time, a total of 11 hospitals were functioning in Ahilyanagar. After the establishment of the ZillaParishad on May 1, 1962, these 11 hospitals were transferred to the ZillaParishad and later other hospitals were established. From the establishment of the ZillaParishad till 1992, the Animal Husbandry Department was functioning under the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Committee under the jurisdiction of the Hon. Vice President, ZillaParishad, Ahilyanagar.

 

Important functions and objectives of the Animal Husbandry Department:-

1. Providing veterinary services to the cowherds.
2. Implementing the hybrid cowherd program.
3. Carrying out disease prevention and control measures.
4. Developing poultry, goats and sheep.
5. Implementing the cattle breeding program.
6. Creating self-employment through animal husbandry.
7. Implementing various schemes of the ZillaParishad, State Government and Central Government.
8. To provide training on animal husbandry.
9. To implement publicity and dissemination schemes.
