    Structure and Functioning

     

    There are 14 Panchayat Samiti and 1323 Gram Panchayats in Ahilyanagar district.

    • The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Gram Panchayat) of ZillaParishad looks after the work as the head of the Gram Panchayat Department.
    • Gram Panchayat is an independent local self-government body and its supervision and control is done by the Gram Panchayat Department.
    • Loans are given from the District Rural Development Fund to provide basic facilities to Gram Panchayats and to increase income. The works/schemes approved from the Central Government / State Government / ZillaParishad Cess Fund are implemented at the village level as per the guidelines of the Government.
    • All matters related to the establishment of Gram Sevak, Village Development Officer, Extension Officer, appointments, promotions, transfers, awards, salary increment, Adarsh ​​Gram Sevak felicitation, disciplinary proceedings etc. Administrative work is done by this department.
    • 15th / 16th Central Finance Commission, Sundar Gram PuraskarYojana, Public Facilities, Urban Facilities, Works Suggested by People’s Representatives, Construction of Minorities and Gram Panchayat Offices (National Gram SwarajAbhiyan), Adarsh ​​Gram Panchayat, Namo Gram, Saur Gram, Construction of Gram Panchayat Buildings under Balasaheb Thackeray Yojana, PESA 5% Unrestricted Fund, Pilgrimage Development Scheme, Grants are distributed to Gram Panchayats through Panchayat Samiti for approved works.
    • Training is provided to the publicly appointed Sarpanch / Deputy Sarpanch and members to run the village administration. Gram Panchayats are the foundation of democracy and are also the basic local self-government institutions created through democracy. The work of strengthening these institutions is done by the Gram Panchayat Department of the District Council.
