    Introduction –

    Various central and state sponsored schemes are being implemented through the District Rural Development Agency, Ahilyanagar office.  The said office is an autonomous organization and was established on February 2, 1982.

    The work of providing basic facilities to the families below the poverty line in the district is done through this office. To raise the standard of living of families below the poverty line in rural areas, provide them with solid houses and shelters and the office of District Rural Development System, Ahilyanagar is committed to implement economic and business plans and develop them through action.

     

    Important Functions of the Department:

    • Implementation of central government sponsored schemes.
    • Providing benefits to below poverty line families in individual and group schemes.
    • Handling loan cases for self employment of below poverty line families.
    • Formulating ideal schemes for taking up investment or productive industries for the beneficiaries to increase their income.

    2.Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission

     

    Information –

    To completely eradicate poverty in rural areas, the Central Government has established the National Rural Livelihoods Improvement Mission. To eradicate poverty, by bringing together the rural poor and building their capable institutions, The main objective of this campaign is to provide financial services to the poor through institutions, build their capacity, and help them emerge from poverty by providing them with livelihood tools.

    The Central Government has converted the Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana into a National Rural Livelihoods Mission from 2011-12. From 2013-14, this mission is being implemented in the state through three modes of operation: Intensive, Semi-Intensive and Non-Intensive.

    Ten-Precepts  –

    It is necessary to train and build the capacity of self-help groups to follow the Ten Precepts. The first five precepts in the Ten Precepts are useful for increasing the economic capacity of self-help groups. The remaining five principles have been included for the social development of the group. If every self-help group follows the ten principles, it will help in the economic and social development of every member of the group and improve their standard of living.
